Inside the Numbers of Paris’ Regional Semifinal Win Over Melissa

Some crazy numbers from Friday night’s 54-49 Paris win over Melissa.

  • Paris scored 54 points despite getting shut out in the 2nd quarter and only scoring six points in the fourth. They scored 27 in the first and 21 in the third. The Cardinals scored 14 points in every quarter except the first (seven).

  • Melissa had 33 first downs to only 19 for the Wildcats. Paris was flagged seven times. Melissa only had one penalty.

  • There was almost 1200 yards of total offense in the game. Paris finished with 578 (486 rushing, 92 passing). Melissa had 568 (319 rushing, 249 passing).

  • Luke Hohenberger only threw the ball three times for 92 yards and two of the passes were for touchdowns. He averaged over 30 yards per completion.

  • Time of possession:
    Paris - 26:20
    Melissa - 21:40

  • With the lead in the fourth quarter, Paris held the ball for 8:40 and only allowed the high power offense of Melissa to have the ball 3:20.

  • Paris led for 45:06 out of 48 minutes. Melissa led for 14 seconds and the game was tied for 2:40.

  • The Wildcats had four rushers (Zeke Jackson, KD Washington, GiTaeus Young, and Lyric Tredwell) average over nine yards per carry. For the game, the Wildcats averaged 8.8 yards per carry.

  • Paris turned the ball over one time. Melissa turned it over twice. The Wildcats scored 14 points off the two turnovers.
